Meet the team behind Foodlink! Without all of these wonderful people by our side, Foodlink would not be able to make nearly the positive impact we are today!
Jessica works full time for her parents at their on farm meat store Oakridge Acres, outside of Ayr. She is a farm girl at heart and has a passion for local food, farming and the outdoors. Jess enjoys working with animals and has added a dog(Ruby), cat (Jack) & two pot bellied pigs (Gus & Maximus) to the menagerie of animals at the farm. Jess also loves playing soccer, year round. Jessica enjoys farming and helps with chores at the organic family farm where they raise pure bred Black Angus cattle and grass fed bison. Jessica's parents have been part of the Foodlink family since the beginning and Jessica is continuing this tradition. After years of being part of the Taste Local! Taste Fresh! event, Jessica is excited to join the Foodlink Board.
Dale and his wife Linda own and operate Stevanus Family Farm and CSA in Bloomingdale. Dale began growing produce more than 30 years ago as a part-time venture while working full time at the University of Guelph's Purchasing Services Dept. The Stevanus' originally sold their produce at the Waterloo and Kitchener Farmers Market but switched their focus to a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program in 2006. Today, their CSA continues to thrive and they also enjoy selling their produce to fine food establishments in Waterloo Region.
Cole is the founder & CEO at Local Line, a software platform that helps food suppliers increase their sales and save time on order fulfillment. Cole started Local Line in Waterloo in 2015. Today the company remains in the region with headquarters in Kitchener and a team that supports hundreds of customers across 20+ provinces and states. Cole is actively involved in Waterloo Region's startup culture and frequently spends time speaking with youth entrepreneurs helping them develop their businesses. Whenever he gets the chance Cole's favourite work-related activity is spending time on customers' farms.
Joel lives at Steckle Heritage Homestead in Kitchener where he operates a small market garden and teaches workshops on gardening & butchery and frequently gives tours to visitors to the farm. He is the COO of 365Local, a company based out of Whitby that specializes in local food research, indoor food production and aquaponics. Joel is the chair of the Waterloo Region Food System Roundtable and can often be found giving talks on local food and food production in Waterloo Region.
Growing up in New Hamburg surrounded by agriculture, Lauren was able to see firsthand the importance of local food and the local food industry. Lauren currently works at Ten Thousand Villages. One of the biggest rewards of her job is being able to meet “makers” from all over the world and learning how fair trade can impact lives around the world. In her spare time, Lauren loves to cook and try out Waterloo region's many restaurants in her monthly Dinner club. Lauren also loves to travel and is always looking forward to her next trip.
Graham is one of the founding partners of Block Three Brewing Company, a microbrewery in St. Jacobs that opened in 2013. Graham comes from an accounting background and lives in Kitchener. He is an ardent hockey fan and loves all things local
Theresa is a Territory Manager at Flanagan Foodservice in the Kitchener Waterloo Region. She began in the Foodservice industry at a very young age starting as a hostess at working her way through many positions within the many different types of restaurants. At 19 she held her first management position at Café 13 and then General Manager of The Riverbank Steakhouse. She moved on to fine dining and spent the next 10 years learning the different levels of the service industry and what was and is important to customers and chefs alike. At Flanagan's local products are a huge focus for her customer base and to herself personally.
